GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) - The 29-year-old man accused in a head-on crash that killed a 22-year-old woman Sunday morning was released from jail Monday afternoon. Investigators are working to determine exactly what charge Scott Sikkema will face.
24 Hour News 8 spoke with Sikkema as he left the Kent County jail.
He said he remembered little of what happened leading up to the crash. But he did remember having four drinks and going to a friend's house.
"Next thing I know, I got an airbag in my face," Sikkema said in an interview. Investigators say he was driving east in the westbound lanes of I-196 near the Kent-Ottawa county line when he slammed into a car driven by Meredith O'Brien, a student at Grand Valley State University.
So why is this drunk driver out of jail ?
