  • Amazing! I am astounded by repair in this video! I would love to know how long the band had been in before the slip. When you were cutting the tissue away from the band, was that scar tissue?

  • The band was places 4 years prior to slippage. Yes, I cut the scar tissue not the wall of the stomach.

    Thanks you for your comment.

  • is it common for them to slip

  • Dr. Spivak, I had a lapband for about 2yrs and during that time I had problems with it leaking, and the tubing broke 4 times. The last time it broke 1 week after I had gotten it repaired from a previous break. All the time the doctor was telling me he was replacing the broken tube, I found out he was doing patch work. Isn't replacing the band the right thing to do after the first breakage in this situation?

  • hope he operates better than he spells

  • How often do lap-bands slip? And is it expensive to have it repaired/replaced? And does it ever cause permanent damage to the patient?

  • I had lapband in 2006 and just recently found out my band has slipped... So as I am seeing here it doesn't have to be removed completely but can be fixed? I came so far with this I hate the thought of having to have it removed..

  • Thank you for your reply. Dr. Spivak your videos are very educational and I have posted many of them to my page. I plan on making speaking of your videos in one of my vlogs on my lab band journey. Your work is impressive & I would like my fellow weightloss surgery friends to see your page.
