Thousands of Zimbabweans cross the border into South Africa every month in search of work and security. Their journey into to the cities often takes many weeks and when they finally arrive they are not guaranteed work. Many lack the basic services and cannot afford to pay rents.

  • Lol, this country can't even afford to look after itself properly and it's letting all these people in to compete for jobs with the homegrown population? Suicide.

  • The problem is many of the refugees resort to crime when they fail to find work in South Africa. Especially near my grand parents home in Pretoria where many live under the highway bridge. Crime in the area has risen at an alarming rate. South Africa's unemployment rate is a problem and many of the refugees have no proper education or skills to give. Many of which work as garden workers or brick layers.
