TRUE! ( see I'm not totally impossible to get along with ;-) )
But that is not news and I'm not sure who says farming helps the enviroment. Farming is for feeding people not wildlife. You can choose not to eat I guess :-/
False - The opposite of this is true and it is the reason why more and more small farms are being forced out of business. They lack the efficiencies of larger farms and cannot afford to keep selling their products at cheap prices. The chemical and fertilizer use per acre would not change due to farm size....
Not sure where you got this idea but it is completely backwards.
"Ind. Food is not cheap due to eviro, social, and health costs"
False - How can you say that? There are no facts included in this statement, only assumptions that will range greatly depending on whatever point you are trying to achieve. Circular reasoning.
"Ind Ag. contaminates food by using chemicals to control pests 7 disease"
False - Food is kept SAFE through the use of pest control products and other treatments. There have been several disease outbreaks lately caused by "organic" food, which is basically a term for not being able to control the harmful effects of insects, fungi, and weed contamination. To assume that the word "pesticide" and "chemicals" are always bad is an ignorant assumption that is easy to make.
"Ind. Ag. increases hunger by raising the cost of farming"
False - The commodity prices since the 70's for example have not really changed at all. The farmer is now producing approx 50% more crop per acre then before while prices have NOT kept up with inflation. The biggest reason farms are forced to get larger ( and small farms go bankrupt ) is that prices have NOT risen along with the cost of land and equipment.
Myth 6

"Large farms are less efficient"
False - The opposite of this is true and it is the reason why more and more small farms are being forced out of business. They lack the efficiencies of larger farms and cannot afford to keep selling their products at cheap prices. The chemical and fertilizer use per acre would not change due to farm size....
