Just finished reading 'The Last Party' - John Harris's superb disection of the Britpop scene - and was directed to this track in the appendix. You can feel it's evolutionary importance.

Maybe so, but Blur were more appealing personality-wise, and prettier. Unfair as it may be, that counts for just as much as much as music in some people's eyes.

Well, that is your opinion and i value it.....and i do like blur's music......but for me, i never judge a band on their looks, people who do this are pathetic s, should always be substance over style my dear :)

No, maybe I didn't make myself clear enough, this is just the opinion of a lot of mainstream-music buying people. I don't agree with it by any means, but that's the reason for it, Blur were just more marketable, they happen to be my favourite band, but only because I like their songs best, it's nothing to do with looks for me......

yeah, i understand your point entirely...yeah, yeah, i suppose you're right.....(deep sigh) mainstream music can be so disappointing though, especially with today's popular bands, like Keane, The Killers, Pigeon Detectives, music is getting bad these days sadly

I've just bought Haines' book 'bad vibes'.
A great read and very funny, too.
