somewhat confused as to why you would convert other than the sound. I mean I know that the 2.0 liter turbocharged ecotec put out 260 and was tunable to about 300-ish with everything pretty much stock. why not just ask for a few extra horses from that thing?
@travelbytommy I would dare not say half, i would say closer to 350 for the LNF ecotec, it has the turbo plumbing turbo and inter cooler. also take into account the ls7 sit's farther back in the solstice.
you are sort of right. According to Edmunds, the 09 Solstice weighs 2976, but of course that is the stock weight with an ecotec for an engine. According to GM an LS6 in full dress (in my 2002 Z06) weighs 497lbs and the LS7 should weigh about the same due to similar construction. Assuming the ecotec weighs about half that due to the size, if you add 50% of the LS7 weight you get 3224lbs, compared to the Z06 which came with an LS7 at 3175. Including a margin of error, they are about the same.
Maybe, maybe not. I have a Z06, but I don't know how much a solstice weighs. There are many factors to consider including what type of racing. If it is lighter, depending on the gearing, I would assume it would beat the Vette in 1/4 mile.
Road course you might have more issues. The big V8 would make the car more front heavy which could slow it down. I am guessing a Z06 can fit much wider tires on it which would be an advantage. Either way...it would be fun to see who comes out on top.
well I guess you can do it to say you did it.

That solstice could probly take out a new vette, I mean it has to be lighter than a corvette if not allmost the same. NICE..
