F7F engines were both rotating in same direction, it was deemed to expensive by P&W to make right and left handed engines for the Tigercat. Also early Bear cats were equipped with blow off wing tips as the aicraft was not stressed for more than 3-4 g's. They were never used (as it would be possible for only one to blow off, leaving the aircraft uncontrolable) Both to late for WW2 but gave good service interwar and in Korea (Tigercat)

@jj21rok The P38 initially had the props rotating towards the pilot, but this made the aircraft unstable, so they reversed it to turn away. Having counter rotating props also gets rid of most of the torque on the plane so it doesn't always want to roll one way or another.
they probably didn't do this on radial engined planes because unlike the Allison v1710, making a radial operate run the opposite direction would be more difficult.

@JukeboxJuggernaut I would imagine the reasoning for not is that it was just cheaper this way....in addition the P38 has counter rotating but they both rotate away from the pilot-reason that I've read is that it reduced interference on the tail section

Funny how the propellers seem to be barely moving because of the camera strob effect
