Selena Tribute and Memorial Showcase in Corpus Christi, Texas

Friends and fans gather in the Tejano singer's former Molina neighborhood on the 15th anniversary of her death.

Grammy-winning artist Selena was killed on March 31, 1995, by Yolanda Saldivar, the president of her fan club, who is serving a life sentence.

Organizers said audience members were from all over -- McAllen, San Antonio, Boston, New York and Argentina.
Sylvia Dancer, who emceed Wednesday's event, said people were coming in droves throughout the five-hour event with latecomers walking blocks to get to the Snack Shack on Barrera Drive. The event featured dancing, speakers, performances, T-shirt giveaways and a candlelight vigil.

Those attending were given the chance to share their memories of the singer.

Dancer said knowing it was the 15th anniversary of Selena's death may have made it more special for attendees.

"We love her and we miss her," she said. "Her memory lives."
