Live & Kicking | Final show | TX BBC 15/09/2001

10 years on since it ended, here is the final hour (I don't have the first hour on tape) of the last ever shambolic Live and Kicking broadcast on BBC1 back in September 2001. The final series basically saw the BBC shoot itself in the foot in the ratings war against ITV's SM:TV Live with Ant and Dec. This wasn't helped by a radical "groovy" change in format, smaller studio, and having the presenters take part in stupid sketches and unfunny skits which in the past would have been mainly left to the likes of Trev and Simon. I suppose one highlight was the return of The Leprachauns Sage & Onion but a little naughtier!

Needless to say, this may have been the end for Live & Kicking but the Beeb decided to launch The Saturday Show the following weekend which...ultimately....died a few reincarnations later due to the end of SM:TV and that old excuse that there's too many channels now and that kids are more interested in their video game addiction!

@ZZZapJohnnyII Well eventually I'm planning to do straight uploads of all the L&K / Going Live! tapes I have but, again, all the shows don't have the first hour or so.
