Learning to write effectively, innovatively and most especially, with fun.
1 in 4 primary school pupils have difficulty writing. Good writing education gives a child a lifetime advantage. It influences language development, text comprehension and fine motor skills. Despite the growing importance of the computer, hand writing is still very important. Unfortunately in practice, in current basic education, little attention is paid to this. Good and effective methods are often more than ten years old and teachers are too busy. Research has shown that in particular, the time spent on writing is important for a good motor imprint - Time on Task. How do we ensure that children spend enough time practicing the necessary movements? By making it fun.

Ranj Serious Games, a leading developer in the field of educational games, is currently developing Juf-in-a-Box (Teacher-in-a-Box.) Using this method, writing lessons are treated in a playful and educational way. It combines the challenge, feedback and fun of computer games with an adaptive learning method. The system constantly adjusts to the level of the pupil.

Educational games are becoming increasingly popular and research shows that they actually are instructive. Yet there is still scepticism by education professionals about their educational value, or uncertainty about implementation within the school timetable. The fact remains that children throw themselves into games with a fanaticism and focus that the average teacher would be jealous of. Serious games combines this motivating factor with the achievement of specific learning goals.

Juf-in-a-Box uses easy to understand technology. The student writes with a stylus, similar in size to a normal pen, on an all-in-one writing tablet and monitor. Due to the graphical interface, the game is instinctively understood. Through this, the system makes it suitable for children from 4 years and up, hence also for children who cannot read! Ranj Serious Games works closely with professionals in the field of child physiotherapy. In addition the scientifically proven method Neuromotor Task Training is used. This pays great attention to the transferability of exercises: the translation to use in daily life. Juf-in-a-Box is therefore also relevant for children who have more difficulty with writing, for example through DCD (developmental coordination disorder).

This does not however mean that the teacher has become an insignificant link in the learning process! On the contrary: Juf-in-a-Box is a powerful tool, but still requires the guidance of a qualified teacher. Because it allows each child to work at his or her own pace, the teacher can then also pay more attention to the children who need it.
