http://drcraigvideos.blogspot.com - William Lane Craig debates Peter Atkins in Atlanta, Georgia (April 3, 1998). Moderated by William F. Buckley. Richard Dawkins said if a scientist should receive a Nobel Prize for Literature Dr. Peter Atkins would be his nominee. Indeed, Dr. Atkins makes Dawkins look like Mr. Rogers when it comes to vitriol against religion. Philosopher of science Dr. William Lane Craig takes up the challenge to debate Dr. Atkins on evidence for God's existence. Since then, Dr. Atkins has not recovered from this debate! A must see for debate lovers!

  • "Since then, Dr. Atkins has not recovered from this debate!", im not sure if this is a joke or not, but to be honest i see no real clear winner from this debate. Science will constantly gather information in years to come, and religion will continue to push on using faith. Eventually one will win over the other, but from this debate, there is no way you can call religion the winner as you are. Seeing as i myself, a child of sorts, can undermine religion with a simple questions. Who created god?

  • @matthew646 "...im not sure if this is a joke or not, but to be honest i see no real clear winner from this debate." LOL! If you're going to watch this debate do so without plugging your ears. Atkins did so bad that Internet Infidels made a public statement that Atkins does NOT speak for them. Science doesn't answer everything, genius: watch?v=vxJQe_FefxY. And God was not created, listen to the argument because we're talking about whatever BEGINS to exist has a cause.

  • @drcraigvideos Where did these internet infidels make this statement? I tried searching for it, couldn't find it. Also, tell me what the significance is if they did in fact do this, after you've given a references. Thanks

  • @AR333 Jeff Jay Lowder (co-founder of Internet Infidels) made a public statement saying that Atkins did not represent any atheist organization. Find his email address and ask him to confirm.

  • @drcraigvideos In this debate, we assume that the universe has a beginning, so why can't we also question whether God also has a beginning?

  • @flashlightwarrior88 Dr. Craig did not just assume the beginning of the universe he gave an argument for that case. The argument says WHATEVER BEGINS TO EXIST HAS A CAUSE. If you want to question God's alleged beginning, go ahead. But the Kalam Cosmological argument refutes that contention.

  • Why - WHY the hell did William Lane Craig shave that glorious beard?

  • @unprofessionalvids William Lane Craig once said "of all the New Atheists, Hitchens is the most rhetorical". But Hitchens likes to dodge questions and play off of puns and cliches, and as a time-filler he throws in the odd quote that has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but rather uses it to sucker-punch. But I have to hand it to Atkins here, he's the most arrogant and pompous of any atheist I've ever heard, lol. At least Hitchens can be funny. If Atkins were to smile, his face would crack!

  • @matthew646 God is considered eternal, not the universe. You are missing fundamental concepts of theism and really I think it is just because of the way that you "are"

  • They debated a second time in October 2011. Does anyone know if there is or will be a video of this event?

  • The most immediately damning aspect of this argument that I see is that both sides are setting impossible standards for the other in order to be "convinced". One wants an immovable object, while the other wants an unstoppable force...

  • I can't believe Atkins would want to go through this again.

  • 6:45 to skip introductions
