Holy christ, has the message of this video flown completely over your head? Not only does Zizek admit that charity is better then nothing, but that the point is that we should not demolish charity, but demolish what caused the point to charity.

  • @songaway13mkify There are four steps to problem solving. Step one, understand the problem. Step two, devise a plan. There's a reason he doesn't offer a solution; too many people still misunderstand the problem. Once enough people realize the problem, then we can progress towards devising a plan as one.

  • @sothimmel I think you're right, lol.

It's nice that he indicates the problem, but a solution would also be very helpful. Critique on the current system is most useful when it comes with a plan of action. Not necessarily a fully worked-out scheme, but a few steps/hints that leads people into the right direction.

People can take critic, but they will need al solution or something they can do in order to accept the change easier. To change such an enormous turn in the human thinking you need a great amount of people.

  • Brilliant

  • Zizek always says that main task for a philosopher is not to give answers, but to define questions properly. Its all about the right questions, because without a right question you can never find an answer.

  • Deleuze -> Virilio -> Are you fucking serious?

  • 01:51 he does not say cluster, he says gesture. which kinda makes a tiny bit more sense.

  • Brilliant! It reminds me of the folks who wear a "Save the Whales" t-shirt while chowing down a microwave burger.

  • @GameAlot1231 It is your paternal attitude toward the experiences of "kids in africa" that creates the demoralizing aspect to charity. You homogenize them as this one group who's lives are the same and are understood and constructed by your western gaze. Not all "kids in Africa" lack adequate education and your idea of "adequate" is governed by western privilege and a sense of superiority. The only reason charity exists is because there are a class of people who insist on dominating others.

  • @ziglaus It takes systemic and collective effort to bring about institutional change. You can't force it upon the system nor can you force it upon other individuals. If you think the issue of neoliberalism is fixable through the grand efforts of a few who understand it's downfalls, you are seriously underestimating the grandeur of the system and the depth of it's roots in society. Philosophers theorize the initial problem and it's possible solutions. It takes an active audience to bring change.

  • I may be wrong actually lol
