Truman Capote attended Greenwich High School and wrote many short stories for the school literary magazine. He went on to become of the most celebrated writers of the 20th century and in 1966, a year after the release of "In Cold Blood", he threw himself the party of the century. His Black and White Ball was truly one of the most talked about social events of the year. He invited 500 friends but made 15,000 enemies. When the author Truman Capote threw a lavish masked ball to celebrate the phenomenal success of 'In Cold Blood', everyone who was anyone vied for an invitation. In May of 2011, The Greenwich Historical Society celebrated this literary figure and hosted its very own black and white ball.
