Yes, once you get past Chapter 4 it should let you play Extra Mode, which will let you create your own character.

I remember good old times of PS2, when Megid with high levels kills DARK FORCE and MOTHER BRAIN...INSTANTLY=)

This and PS4 Megid with all those gun shooting and Destruct combo=)
