@unclealand Wow... that's interesting. Had she tired of the role, do you think? Or wanted to leave the production for awhile for another opportunity but wasn't allowed to go? Maybe she was feuding with director Mike Nichols or castmates Alda and/or Blyden? The backstage stuff is sometimes more intriguing (and entertaining) than what the audience gets to see. Maybe BH was very insecure and that behavior was how it presented. Whatever--it's a great show and I love her in it. :-)

@TheCatgirl6 You should have seen what she was like when she did win the Tony a few minutes later. She appeared absolutely contemptuous and her gratitude speech was delivered with sarcasm. Very strange.

Thanks so much for sharing this--I've loved the Alan Alda-Barbara Harris 1966 original cast album ever since stumbling across it at a public library, but never had the pleasure of seeing the actual show or any tv clips from that production. Sometimes these clips end a bit abruptly so maybe it's the cut-off, but Harris's "Gorgeous" number seems to fall a bit, um, flat at the end (no pun intended, I swear). She seems to turn to run off the stage before the song is quite over, which looks odd.

@BwayDreamer1128 for the really high stuff they actually had someone else sing it 1. because she couldn't and 2. because its really funny when you can tell that she just mouths it haha. Unfortunately I dont have anyone else singing it so I have to attempt it every night haha thanks for the encouragement we open tonight!
