A comprehensive walkthrough of Windows Media Center (WMC) on Windows 7. This configuration is modified with a customized menu and an external player for Video content, allowing improved playing of DVD and Blu-Ray rips. It also supports the new lossless audio codecs found on Blu-Rays; DTS Master Audio and Dolby TruHD.

  • @ITproReviewNet This is for DVDs only. Media Center cannot play blu rays in this manner.

  • @Lazysamurai If you are using Windows 7, there is a "Movies" section in Libraries. When you set up your libraries, you will notice you specify a folder where movies go. Be sure you have done that and know where this folder is. Now you will need to "rip" the movie from the disk. You will need to use software such as DVD FAB to do this. Just rip the video_ts folder from each disk and place them in their own folders in the "movies" folder you created earlier.

  • how do you add dvd movies to windows media center.

  • @calvindcd I am not sure, but I don't think so. Although the "media browser" does work with extenders I don't think the external player would. I will look further into it.

  • will this play through a media extender?
