this is the famous 100 man kumite~ sorry i had to record this with my cam, but once i get a good video editor, i will upload it in high quality, until then please enjoy ^^
In a 1 on 1 match with no weapons the Gracie Ju Jutsu practitioner will win 10/10 times. The Gracie family's system stops working when you add weapons or more people. It does no good to control a guy's hips on the ground when he has a pocket knife to slash you with or when his buddy who is still standing can come and stomp on your head.
Francisco Filho also did the 100-Man-K, and had a kickboxing record of 16-7-2; out of his 7 losses he was only knocked out twice. Very talented guy who did quite well in K-1. He would definitely outstrike MOST people in UFC (can't say he would outrstrike someone like Mark Hunt, cause that guy fought at the same elite level in kickboxing that Filho did), but as time goes by, the level of striking in MMA will continue to improve. Being a blackbelt means nothing - being talented means everything!
Ever heard of the Gracie family? There are MANY videos of them engaging in NO-RULES bouts with high-level practitioners of martial arts that were 'developed for war' - various forms of Karate, Kung Fu, Hapkido etc. The Gracies won every time. What's your take on this then, Mr. Samurai Wannabe?
Secondly, there are plenty of UFC champions out there who are high level karateka. If karate was the be-all and end-all or fighting, why do these guys bother with cross-training?
No it doesn't. Kyokushin is a great fighting art, but don't bad-mouth wrestling. Wrestling is just as tough, but in different ways.
A pure grappler will almost always beat a pure striker... just watch any of the old UFC fights. If an elite karateka went up against an elite wrestler, I'd put my money on the wrestler (assuming neither fighter had cross-trained).
Instead of arguing over which is better, train in both and become a well-rounded fighter.
@stepaniss It's quite clear that Shokei Matsui outskills more then half of these fools. Honestly from these clips I'm ashamed of Kyokushin. These 50man/100man kumites should NOT be given as easily as this.
