He stopped with his hand on the door handle. "This is just so sudden. I need to think."
"I know, I'm sorry. It was just as sudden for me. I found out last night."
"Look, I'm not sure I"m ready for a long distance relationship."
"What?" I trembled. This was exactly what I was worried about.
"I Just...God Hayley." He finally turned to look at me before looking back away less than a second later. "I don't know what to think."
"Well, where does that leave us then?" I asked desperately.
"I have to think. I'll call you when I know myself." With that, he angrily swung the door open and stormed out back into the crowded hallway. I gave up on trying to stop the tears and broke down, falling back onto the bench. I put my head in my hands as I continued to cry my eyes out. Soon I heard the bell ring. Screw it. It was my last day at this hell hole for months, possibly forever knowing how the music industry worked; what's the point in even trying?
{Kevin's P.O.V.}
"She was totally into me," Joe said as we walked back into the stadium from where we had been playing whiffle ball. Well, they had been playing. I had been watching. We were with our band and the Honor Society guys as well.
"Are you kidding? You obviously need a stronger prescription. She was into me," Nick insisted.
"Ha! she had a sign with my name on it."
"Actually, she had a sign with all our names on it," I pointed out.
"Kevin, not helping," Joe snapped back.
"Alex, help me out here," Nick said turning to Alex, who was on the other side of him.
"Whoa, don't bring me into this," Alex said, putting his hands up.
"How about any of the rest of you, was she into me or Joe?"
"I'm ending this. She was into me," Garbo said.
"How you figure that?"
"I figure that that will get you guys to stop fighting," Garbo said shrugging, and the rest of us, besides Nick and Joe, laughed.
That's when we got back to the stage and saw Dad standing with Cass and the girl I assumed was his daughter. I only assumed that cause she had a duffel bag at her feet, and Cass had his hands on her shoulders. Okay, she actually looked a lot like Cass. Similar faces, similar eyes. But she didn't look like a little girl at all. She looked like she didn't put too much effort into her appearance. She had on wrinkled jeans, a faded t-shirt, and old beaten up Vans, and her hair was pulled back in a ponytail, frizzing out in the front. She looked sad, like I expected her to be. But despite all that, I couldn't stop looking at her. But I noticed I wasn't the only one.
