Special Service Group Navy SSG(N) are the Pakistan Navy's elite principal special operations force. The SSGN teams are trained and have been deployed in a wide variety of missions, including direct action and special reconnaissance operations, unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, and other missions. Without exception, all SSGN are male members of either the Navy, Coast Guard or the Army.
PNS IQBAL is the commanding headquarter of commander SSG(N). The commander SSG(N) is placed under the command of Commander Coastal areas. SSG(N) comprises of three sub commands: CO PNS IQBAL, CO SEAL and CO VBSS. The unit has so far imparted training to friendly countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Iran and Sri Lanka. In addition it is a regular feature to conduct joint exercises with allied countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Bahrain.
