Factual experience of abortion. Pre, after and years later.
In memory of Ben.
If it's right, then why have so many of us been wrong?
How bad do you feel?
Is it right to have choice when that choice can hurt or kill?
Many people are asking: 'Does it hurt?'
Simple answer: 'Yes'.
Physically, like extreme period pains. Hormones trying to settle.
Mentally, this is more tricky. At first, relief. Numbness. Tiredness.
Your brain has to understand what has happened on two levels. Consciously and subconsciously. On a conscious level, your brain could 'forget' about the abortion and you may think you have put it behind you and moved on with your life.
But abortion is one of those things where your physical emotions don't tally up with your mental thoughts.
On a subconscious level, your brain has to deal with the physical changes to your system. First you were pregnant, your hormones have changed and then you are not pregnant, your hormones have changed again, but you didn't have a miscarriage as the brain would understand it, so where the hell did the baby go? That's what your brain has to work out and over a period of years, it tries to work it out.
You will go through anniversary blues. Date the baby was due, date the baby was lost.
Later, when you have children or if you already have children, you will watch and compare what you think your child would have looked like.
Then, when you finally think you have forgotten all about it, something will trigger the painful memory of what happened and you will suffer the most traumatic grief and loss you will ever come to experience. It feels like having something ripped from your insides, which is in fact what did happen.
Depression. Irritability. Anxiety. Stress. Nightmares. Flash backs. Pain. Aversions. Can't say the word abortion?

Seriously. Alot of women will say....Nobody told me that I would go through psychological stress. Nobody warned me. They only told me it was a quick and painless procedure.
Please, if you will learn anything from my mistake. Learn to take precautions. It is far better to have choice before you face a pregnancy.
If you want to ask more questions....Feel free. I am not a psychiatrist and am speaking from my own experience.

  • After literally decades of study.... The debate is over and has been over: "The effects of abortion (Psychology Today) - Google the whole thing. "APA:January 18, 1989 Abortion Adler NE, et al". "Psychological factors in abortion: a review." There are literally thousands of similar papers. Statically speaking it is more likely than not these papers were written by "Theist" doctors. According to the overwhelming majority of modern psychology god might be real but you are full of BS
