I just saw the Penn & Teller episode about video games. They tested the "anyone who plays violent video games is a serial-killer waiting to happen" hypothesis. They let a kid fire an actual gun, after shooting the gun, he was asked to fire some more, but turned it down. He also started crying minutes later. This should prove that the video games are not the problem here, the mental health of each person is. And the mental health of a person can most often be traced back to the PARENT!

i think Wertham gets the short side of the stick. He does fairly get blamed for Seduction of the Innocent, but he later regretted the harm it had caused. he felt it went too far. His main concern, unlike everyone elses, was actually always the children.

He also was one of the earliest campaigners for civil rights; his work was cited in the Brown vs The Board of Education trial, and is considered seminal in the verdict. Lawful Good if there ever was one.
