Police torture and human rights are silent affairs in Chicago.

In honor of International Human Rights Day 2010, JCUA, Black People Against Police Torture, CAAAELII, the Illinois Coalition Against Torture and the Midwest Coalition for Human Rights, sponsored "Condemning Silence, Not People: Police Torture and the Added Value of Human Rights.

The event focused on the impact human rights principles can have on bringing perpetrators of torture and brutality, like former Chicago Police Cmdr. Jon Burge, to justice.

Featured spoken word artists for the event were C.C. Carter, Kevin Coval and Roger Bonair-Agard.

  • @LosPaleteros05 Sorry you had a hard time hearing the speakers. This video may be reuploaded at a later date with more subtle music.

  • The music is distracting and unnecessary, make it hard to hear the speakers.

You should repost without the music
