To mark the first Fossil Fools Day, Plymouth Rising Tide shut down the Esso petrol station on Exeter Street to raise awareness of the company's denial of global warming and unwillingness to invest in renewable energies. 50 people attended, and there was a lot of public support for the action. Seven protesters were arrested and the petrol station was closed for two hours. BBC as well as local press and radio covered the action...but we also decided to tell our own version of events. Many other actions like this occurred throughout the world.
Heey lovely! this action was not for the fuel price!!!! It was FOSSIL FOOLS DAY an international day of action to highlight the FOOLERY of the fossil fuel industry to keep expanding and promoting more itself, in times of Climate Crisis and Peak Oil !! We need a 'transition' to a sustainable future NOW and not denying the truth about the situation as ESSO does!

Gas was at 1.03 a gallon? Holy shit!
Plus, instead of looking to "invest in alternatives", we need to look to alternatives to investing.

If you were producing oil and selling it cheapley by the barrel. Then found out that it was then being sold to the consumer for 100 times more than that you sold it at of course you'd put the price up. We are mugs and roll over at the slightest increase in price. I say yes to the goverment. Lets all use public transport for a week. Clog up the underground. QUe for buses. Sod it. Lets just not go to work and park all our cars on the motorways and go tell old brown to stick his head up his arse.
