If you enjoy great group harmony music, come join us on Filetopia in the 'Pittsburgh Hits' chat. We enjoy oldies of all kinds, but especially period group harmony sounds.
Here is a mono rip of Little Jimmy Brown - I Didn't Know - Brent 7022. Great dance tempo, I love the loud off mike drumming. Time-Shad-Brent outfit had great jazz sidemen and it shows in the quality of the releases, 'tight' like they play it every night for a year. Sorry Janie Bartholomew, can't help you get your record back, hehe. Hope you enjoy - CW
EDIT 12-15-2010 - Received a nice email from Mr. Walter Nash, younger brother of the singer on this cut, John Nash, cousin of Johnny Nash. Walter reports John Nash 1939-2007 was a multi talented individual, artist, performer, comic, singer, athelete. Was often mistaken in person for Richard Pryor. John was lead for a number of southern California harmony groups, and some of the members of the Hollywood Flames backed on this 1960 record. Walter further reports the great dance tempo drumming is Shelly Manne(!). Many Thanks Walter for the valuable information - Best - CW
Unbelievable!!!! The voice is actually John Nash. Close 1st cousin of the famous
70's singer Johnny Nash("I Can See Clearly Now"). I'm John's brother. Haven't heard
this since the 50's. Thanks for posting.
