Sarah is definitely the best female singer ever.. Every song she sang was a vocal masterpiece..And a clinic on phonation, expression , style, vocal range and expression..

I read the comments of ARAUZ1625 and I couldn't agree more, but there was one thing you forgot to mention. The one thing that can't be created through musicianship. Sarah Vaughan had a depth and quality of tone that was a birthright. You can develop and improve your instrument, but at the end of the day, you can only work with what you've been given. Sarah had it all.

@ocnoreen Interesting. I meant no harm in my comment. And the reason Streisand comes into so many comments, is because she recorded this song too- and perhaps one of the more popular versions. As for you calling me an amateur - wonderful - thanks for insulting those who are just expressing their opinion on a song. Classy.
Its a song. Please. Get over it. There are people who do not think that Sarah is #1 you know. Deal with it.
But please... enough with the condescending tones.

@mahthah No, beg to differ. Not even close.

@mahthah Not even close.

@Ladyrants You are so correct about what you say. I miss Sass, too. She was the best.

@BarbraLovesYou PLEASE. you must be an amateur or you would not say such things. Sass was the master. It was like hearing the best created voice God ever made. Barbra, and I like her, cannot even be put into the same category as a master of jazz such as Sarah Vaughan.

@BarbraLovesYou what does Barbra Streisand have to do with Sarah Vaughan? Why compare them? It's like comparing Britney to Janis..

To ME, to even bring Barbara IN to comparrison (and for what?), is like syrup and Molasses, or like Sparkling cider and fine wine! The one is more light and fizzy, and the other is more rich and strong in influence! Sarah is the 'wine' of song interpretation, and the molasses of vocal expression, both of which are more influencial to the enire atmosphere they envelope! Loving them both is "what it is";. The impact, effect,depth and musical tenure is what 'this' is.

@ARAUZ1625 _YES! You are exactly RIGHT! Doing that CAN add and strengthen the vocal timbre as 'well' as the 'range'! Thank you for the mention! :-)

Sarah had a wider range than Barbara, but i don´t understand why make such a big deal ´bout range when what really matters is how you use your voice and of course is the way which Sarah sang (use of phonation, breath control, energy direction, musicianship, expression etc. is what makes her outstanding. Sarah sings a lot of notes which can be adapted by any intelligent singer with musicianship ...Billie Holiday had a one octave range only and she became a legend!

@ARAUZ1625 Of course you're right ! What makes an artist is not the high notes, or range
