lol. you are incorrect. there were karate tournaments in japan before there were in america.

in fact, judging objectively, this type of karate is only effective with a sharp object in one's hand.
this is NOT suitable for unarmed combat for the simple reason that there are hundreds of ways to take down an unarmed practitioner of this technique.
