I agree with you that the repug legislature started this whole mess, & don't even get me started on them! But Dean's punishment was draconian, misdirected and totally disenfranchised millions of innocent rank & file voters. He should have halved the delegates, not yanked them all, that would have left us with a representative voice. Anyway, let's hope that we come up with a fair system of rotating, regional primaries to avoid this horror show in future elections. Peace out!
Well, I am also a lifelong Democrat from Florida. The problem is, our legislature, including the Democrats (except for 2) voted to move up the primary. We should be furious at our elected representatives, not the DNC, for allowing this to happen. My guess is that we'll end up with 1/2 the delegates, but, yes, even that is unacceptable. People stayed away in droves because they believed their votes wouldn't count.
FYI, I'm a lifelong, loyal Democrat who simply wants my vote to count (for once--I'm in Florida and already experienced it being taken away in 2000). It was bad enough when the repugs disenfranchised us & subverted a fair election process in 2000. I never thought my own party would do the same. Dean violated the rules which said to take away HALF the delegates, which would have punished the offending states yet left the innocent VOTERS with a representative voice. I've been up in arms ever since
tstorm2007, why are Obamabots, who supposedly are into moving beyond labels, so prone to making assumptions about people? FYI, this isn't about which candidate I support, I've been screaming about the delegate issue since Dean went nuclear & yanked them all away, before a single vote was cast. I'd be just as passionate about it no matter who had won FL & MI. It is about the voters & disenfranchisement. Dean broke the rules, he should have cut the delegates in HALF, leaving the voters a voice.
Why are HRC supporter so cluess? FL and MI broke the RULES of the party. Something HRC cares nothing about. They ALL signed an agreement the FL and MI would not count. Now the DNC Rules committe will seat w/ some penalty...BECAUSE THEY BROKE THE RULES. And for HRC to say that it was Obama's fault or to envoke 2000 election is an example of manipulation of the worst kind. She is a liar, manipulator and should be trusted..and the reason he won't pick her for VP
It's funny how people try to run from Obama when his approval ratings are sinking like a rock.
