Can you tell me if I can serve them without the syrup. I mean, after boiling them in syrup I serve them like cookies? Thank you!

@coristaind You can serve them without the sugar soup/syrup(?), but they will be rather tasteless. Even with the sugar filling inside, it will be a bit hard to eat since they are sticky when dry, unlike cookies. :P It's more like wet mochi.
