Tavis deserves tons & tons of respect. But Sheila Jackson Lee is making some reasonable points too. So glad proficiency in singing an Al Green song, any other song, or acting are not prerequisites for the "Office of the Presidency", any other elected office position, public service position, service in the military, be it of legislative, judicial, executive nature, or duty to serve in any branch of the U.S. military.

Proficiency in the function of government, citizenship status, and the duty to uphold his or her oath of office are indeed strong credentials for any elected office position.
