Please read, lyrics, etc...Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, especially to both of mine :-) This video features the daughters of many of my family and friends - all of whom knew nothing of my work on it over the last few months. I'm sure they'll recognize the photos I stole; I only wish they came out a little clearer! I wish I could have included so many more...
Happy Mother's Day to all you moms, especially to both of mine :-)
I love you, ~Lauren
p.s. Thank you, RickyShades for your technical help! :-)

This video is not in true ASL, although it should be - and will be when I can update it accurately. It is hard to translate songs into ASL because it is a true language just as English is; therefore, ASL is not in English word order. It's difficult to not lose the meaning and rhythm of the song. There are many that can do it; I am a working my way there. It was my own interpretation of this beautiful song at the time. I hope it inspires you.
[LYRICS BELOW]
I am not deaf. I was inspired to learn from my cousin & my ASL instructor, both of whom are deaf, as well as from a friend's child. I am not an interpreter, although that may be have a long way to go to become even close to fluent in ASL, so I admire those that are. Take classes at your local college, find on-line resources or books if there are none nearby. Most importantly, the BEST way to learn is to talk with someone who is deaf.
I can't please everyone and I will never be a perfect signer because I am not deaf. However, I am making the effort to communicate on all levels in a way that I truly enjoy - in the most beautiful language.
All I know is what I am reading from all of you: people who were touched to see a beautiful visual aspect put to their special song. That it helped express their love, or let go of one; deal with the loss of a grandparent, a friend; recall their faith; start a new life; their wedding song; courageously battle disease as they fight for their life; bravely fight to protect ours... Countless people asking how & where they can learn ASL (college classes near you, on-line resources, or most importantly, talk with someone who is deaf). These are the reasons I'm doing this, and will continue...Thank you so much for the support.
My best,
~Lauren
"In My Daughter's Eyes" Martina McBride
(James Slater)http://www.martinamcbride.com/
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes
And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes
beautiful video!

How did your present go for your mom, simplelaugh? Did you end up doing a song for her? I'm sorry for the late thank you as my own mom was in the hospital for 11 weeks; all is well now. Give yours an extra hug :-)
