A cover of Venus, a song off of one of my favorite albums, Marquee Moon. Television was an amazingly genuine and intelligent band founded by members Tom Verlaine, Richard Lloyd, Billy Ficca, and Richard Hell. Although Hell left the band in 1975, ex-Blondie bassist Fred Smith filled in. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j143/danjoker08/RichardHellPart.jpg
Television put out two albums during this period, Marquee Moon (1977) and Adventure (1978), but due to creative differences between all members of the band, they decided to go their seperate ways. After Television split in 78', all members pursued solo careers until 1992, where they reunited for one more eponymously-titled album and a year-long tour. Marquee Moon (1977) is now considered a classic, but Adventure
(1978) although often overlooked, is a masterpiece in its own right. The setup is a Yamaha Pacifica 112 through a Roland KC-500 Keyboard Amplifier.

  • i can hear some influence of "post punk" on Red Hot Chili Peppers by the way album

  • @rorocuz right on, rhcp were incredibly influenced by punk and post-punk rock. Have you seen Flea's bass?

  • Well done. Great near approximation to Verlaine's guitar sound. You should start a Television tribute band if you can find replicants for the remainder of the band and I take it you can sing like Verelaine.

  • tribute bands are pointless. if a song really means something to you playing a cover now and then is great, but you can't go around replicating others

  • impressive

  • @Taktwo2 - definitely. Their songs are built around Lloyd's riffs and hooks. Neither Verlaine or Lloyd are as good, separately. Too bad the interpersonal chemistry wasn't better - we would have enjoyed a much richer output from a truly great band.

  • gorgeous sound! one of my favorite songs.

  • awesome sound, you're a guitarist for sure

  • Richard Lloyd is immensely underrated. The solo in this song is great (from Tom) but I must say the riffs throughout the song really make it beautiful.

  • wow u did a great job at this, its a beautiful song. fuck the tribute band idea u could make ur own great new sound, and if ya ever need a drummer, call on me!
