It is quite possible that the original song (Refrain and first 2 verses) was composed by Gladys Galahaun of Cincinnati. All the song sheets I've ever seen have no mention of the author.

But verses 3 and 4 were written by Greg Mailloux of Windsor, ON. Feel free to use them as you like.

WRONG---This song was written by Gladys Galahaun, Cincinnati Ohio--She was on the Ed Sullavan show. Her only son Gene, was one of the first Navy pilots to be shot down in the Korean war.
