Custom Weathering a undecorated ATLAS GP40 into a old SOOLINE 2032, EX MILW, I used acrylic paints mixed with rubbing alcohole, hand painted and airbrushed, Microscale Decals, Protototype photos are from RR PICTURE ARCHIVES SOO 2032. I copied weathering and parts of loco to the most prominent points of the protoype photos such as the back number boards. Im not a great glue and parts person it was hell glueing those parts on but i maxed my ability. If something is not perfect this is why all those parts were not even in the instructions and i had no idea what they are so i spent hours searching for appropriate drill holes in the body or chassie. Also i have the larger gas tank and roof part with out the vent as on the prototype photos, i used the fan vent because vent on the prototype photos there are side vents and no fan vent but fan vent on model part. i didnt want to put plastic filler in fan vent hole and sand papaer for two days only to mess up so i went with the fan vent (DID I SAY THAT RITE) I blame Chinas Atlas model enigneers myself. SUNSHADES i didi nto put on cause of shipping. Those other parts ill add in Ebay shipping when purchased.
Great video, I’m in the process of striping a LL GP20 that I screwed up with regular spray paint and I’m trying to learn how to Airbrush. Thanks for sharing.
I wish I would have seen this earlier because I set out to buy Acrylic, but they didn’t have the color I wanted and the hobby store talked me into buying enamel.
From what I’ve seen so far everyone is using a mask and respirators for enamel, so now I guess I need to look into that.
