1/26th Infantry engaged in Operation Baton Rouge, a joint Iraqi-coalition effort to drive anti-Iraqi forces out of Samarra. Scenes of tracer rounds at night, Soldiers questioning an Iraqi man, Soldiers in the city at daybreak and a tank rolling down the street. Soldiers position themselves around a building, then shoot a lock inside to enter a room. They cautiously go upstairs to the roof. View of a large mosque and the city below. Soldiers take position on roof, gunfire heard. They react to fire and aim for targets. Inside a detainee sits while Soldiers look in office at phones and records. Outside a Soldier speaks to media. Military vehicles, including a tank, drive by. Several trucks bring in Iraqi National Guard troops - they file into a compound. An explosion is heard and smoke billows up in the distance. Civilians on street, one carries a white flag. Video from 196th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment.

  • You can't forget 1-18 INF being there...or 1-7...had to save some 1-26 ass.

  • BAD LUCK FOR US ARMY IN AFGHANISTAN

  • Army Specialist Christopher Corriveau was awarded the distinguished service cross from this battle.

  • It seems a majority of this footage is of 1st platoon B co from 1-14 inf. Thats who I deployed with and thats who is on the roof top. Earlier in the video it was also our patch. 1-14 Inf was the main body in along with tank support from the big red 1. I don't really know who 1/26th Inf is.

  • @Drunkgrenadier Hoooah!!! Rakkasan Infantry 3/187INF Air Assault hooah!

  • us army is the best

  • optics have to be requisitioned by an officer, you need to go to your infantry officer and supply probable cause that you would be more officiant with the gear you want.most units and company's bought them from civilian supplier's or off/on base suppliers..

  • I remember this operation like the back of my hand. 1-26 did there job.

  • @4jai2brons0n

When when I was there I was a little under an hour away from Sammarra. Some of my company was there. Opitcs depends on your unit. If your unit has an armory that is full then everyone will get one for the M-4 or M 16. You can buy your own I had a scope on my M 16 cause they wouldn't give me optics. I saw people buying the rail systems and even saw a guy buy a M203 Grenade Launcher from the civilian sector but that is where they drew the line on the civilian stuff. Told him no 203

  • You gotta love the US army.
