Republicans controled the executive and legislative branches for years and still had record job losses. They gave tax cuts to the rich that didn't produce any jobs during the Bush Presidency. They gave the banks and financial sector gifts like Check 21 that made it hard to file bankruptcy and easy for banks to charge fees.
