  • Great to view and bring back so many memories of the old place. I worked at the North East Electricity Board in the new office built next to the shopping centre and housing estate that were all built on the old aerodrome site in the late 60's. Was that a picture of the Yorkshire Dragoon pub which has since been renamed I think.

  • @britecho Yep you are correct I was a year ahead of you and I do remember your sister Sheila. I rarely get back to the UK, little on business once in a blue moon, but usually only London. My family followed me out West in the early 90's so no reason to travel up to the North East. Thanks for getting in touch, I have fond memories of my childhood and Thornaby!

  • @pepalms Hi again. Can't say I remember a Peter Palmer. However, Miss Cartwright (later Mrs Carr) and (I thnk) Miss Foster, are familiar names to me.

I also remember Steve Badger but think he was in the year ahead of me. If that's the case you may remember my sister, Sheila?

  • @britecho Brian your name sounds familiar although I can't put a face to you! I am Pete Palmer, Mandale, Miss Cartwright JR 1, Miss Foster JR 2, Miss Wood (Mrs. Thompson) HR3, Miss Cartwright JR4 (I think she got married too that year). Others in my class Stephen Badger, Gary Wilson, Janet & Brian Waton (twins). Went on to Stainsby & Acklam Hall, B'Ham Uni, and onto the States in '81. What took you back to Thornaby?

  • @pepalms Hey pepalms! Do I know you? I also attended Mandale Junior school from 1966-70! Name's Brian Whitaker. I emigrated to New Zealand in 1987 but came back to good old Thornaby in 1999 :)

  • Incredible, shed a few tears viewing this one! Thornaby lad now living in California, thanks so much for posting, this brought back some very good memories. Was that Mandale junior school? Attended 66-70. had a few in the Jolly Farmers as well!

    Thanks again
