Everyone is raving about this book. I am in the process of reading it, and I think it is poorly written and not very engaging. To me, it is just, ho hum, another vampire tale at a time when vampires are "in." I love anything about ancient Eqypt, usually, and Cleopatra, expecially.  This is one time when i suspect the movie, if not even that good, would far exceed the quality of the book.

I love Cleopatra, but the Kemetic Pagan in me has a big nit to pick with this story: Sekhmet-Hethert is NOT the Netjeret (Goddess) of Chaos or Destruction. She is the Goddess of War, Pestilence, and Healing. She's not vampiric, either.
