@Flamorgan If they have a fixed caravan/house on any of the land they bought or indeed moved onto illegally, then they have to pay council tax. This includes any drain away or rudimentary sewer systems in place. But there will always be a problem with the Gypsies as they fail to want to integrate into the laws of our country and try to pull the 'human rights' act/laws as soon as they fail within our courts. Simple really, they are parasites who milk what they can out of our good nature.

@Flamorgan The debate over land issues and the council misusing the land should be taken up, admitedly. And abiding by the law is a must. But they have now had their TV moment and need to save face.

@Flamorgan I'm not missing the point. This is just one case that the media has really got it's teeth into. Yeh, they own the land and are allowed to camp/park caravans on for a limited period in a year. My point is the total disregard for local residents and the factual accountability that they have increased the boundaries as they please. Tell me, what land tax/council tax do they pay for living in a caravan??? And yes, Basildon council should be prosecuted if this is the case too.

@Flamorgan Would you be happy if they rocked up and parked on your land...? Thought not. I have no compassion for the travelers and their 'way of life/tradition'. They consider the thought of having a fixed land base (house) a prison. They believe they are above the law. If they truly believe in their heritage then they should embrace this back in Ireland (given that the subject matter is about Irish Gypsies/travelers). I pay my taxes which go directly into moving on the leeches. That is unfair!

Why do these 'travelers' want to stay put? They are 'travelers' after all. I think they know how good they are getting it from our generous society and fully abusing it. Kick off the land and out of Britain too!!!
