Jacobs Well is now owned by Hays County. For the foreseeable future, open access will continue to be possible. FilmerofBobcats' statement is in error, at least as far as the Well itself: no houses have been built in the immediate vicinity, and certainly not 'smack in front of it'. They must be referring to access from Coleman Canyon, which is at least 300 yards away.
I love staying at Coleman's Canyon and swimming in it. Apparently certain ranches around it have easements to go there. How can you access it now? Somebody built a house right smack in front of it about 8 years ago. ;-(
