  • This demo is realy useful :D thanks dude

  • @RombusEvilBones You're welcome! I try to show different sounds pedals can do, instead of just wanking on one sound. This doesn't pedal have any controls, but you should check out my demos of some more complicated pedals. If there's a control, I'll turn it!

  • Hey!

I looked at the BYOC website and found the armstrong twin. Is this the one your using now? Just with the knobs?

It's just it sounds different from the kit that they have.

I want something like this but with a fuzz control.

  • @InkNoiseUK I sold that one to a friend, but got a similar one and modified it with volume and fuzz knobs. There's stuff on the internet that shows how to add the fuzz/gain control. Both octavers sounded pretty close when stock. Remember it also depends on your amp, guitar, and hands. Plus the camera mic colors and compresses the tone.

  • awesome playing!!

  • @doc998 Thanks!

  • That purple haze tone was spot on. great clone man.

  • @211ampsJG This thing is great. I think it brings something more than just an octave up to the table; it's that extra bit of growl from the ring mod that puts it over the top. Subtle in a way, but pronounced enough to really have it's own identity. Cool-

  • @StratMN I believe it was the standard GGG or BYOC schematic. I purchased this pedal already built, then sold it, then bought another that I know followed the GGG schematic. It sounds the same, but I added fuzz and volume controls. The fuzz is so-so, but increasing the gain a bit helps add compression to single coils for a fuller sound. Those mods are easily found, and may be on the GGG site. Good Luck!

  • so - to build this ringer pedal as is - no controls or anything - what schematic did you use? I'm interested in building exactly what you have here.

  • @AeolianSeventh I listened to Are You Experienced remastered and was surprised to hear how fuzzy the Purple Haze solo is. His tones are so amazing all over that album, but it's difficult to find accurate information about what he used. Roger Mayer probably built him a ton of custom pedals, and Jimi's personality shines through on every note.
