Beveley Ashworth provides in-vision continuity on Granada Television into the Grand Opening of Euro Disney (any ideas on why the corporate ITV logo flashes up front-cap stylee before the show begins?).

This was basically a two hour advert for a holiday resort, although given this was just weeks before the Aspel/Planet Hollywood incident we shouldn't be too surprised really...

April 1992, all copyright remains ITV plc.

  • Like the way the kids are counting down to Pat and Matthew's on-air!

  • Pat Sharp's hair. Brilliant

  • I'm booking a surprise for my family I did my research at bestvaluethemeparks (.) com

  • I remember having the whole show recorded and used to watch it back all the time! (can you blame me, I was only 4!). I wouldn't mind watching it again for nostalgic reasons but I think I threw the tape away =(. Thanks for uploading this =)

  • this seemed like a big ad in the UK but since the 50's Disney had big shows like this on prime time american television, really this was the 90's version of the opening of the original Disneyland in California in 1955, at the time that was one of the largest live tv broadcasts in history, you should be able to find footage of the Disneyland in california opening on youtube from 17th July 1955 with Walt Disney himself.

  • This is from 1992 as thats when Euro Disney opened. I watched this as a kid and it was built up in the free tv book in the mirror as a massive event. I was a kid so enjoyed it but it was just an advert really.

  • We've got an actual part of this on tape somewhere, it's amazing how ITV got away with this, they gave over a whole Saturday night for this programme. I mean Disneyland is a big thing and this couldn't be ignored, but this was just pure advertising. Although there was alot of music on the event IIRC. TF1 in France covered it in a similar way to ITV.

  • To think we could have all sniggered looking back at this if EuroDisney remained in the doldrums.

Though it's amusing how Bev has to check her notes just to name Pat Sharp but can remember Matthew Kelly off by heart!
