  • That's a bit nonsense, that you need a chisel point to draw, it all depends on one's technique and what you want to draw. You have some good videos and explain everything very well, but don't go telling people that this is the way great art school in Europe train you to draw, it's simply not true, it would be wrong, every artist is different, what works for you might not work for others. You need to share your views and techniques, but don't start pretending that they are the only path to follow

  • That shows what you know.

  • You know Lon, I have 2 of those lead holders but can never find any lead other than HB. Do you know where I may be able to get 4b and maybe even some different hardnesses? Thanks in advance!

  • Well, I get then at almost any art store, and if they don't have them in yours, they would probably ordewr them in for you.

  • hi baby ,,,,, you so nice teacher ,, you are great artsit ,,, l ove you so much ,,

  • Thank you much... I just beginning to learn to draw. Can you use the chisel point technique with color pencils?

  • u mad?

    He draws better than you.

And probably these people you talk about probably draw anime.

and besides, his chisel point actually makes sense. though I dont get how he can be wrong when he is actually showing you what one pencil can do in place of 4-5 of them.

  • yes, I think the graphite holder is handy tool, best all the surface. I used to use whole bunch of the pencil shapened from 4h to 6b about 20 of then for cast drawing. HB-4h works draw details but it hurts paper surface sometimes.they have pro cons...

  • do u ever do any other types of shading? liek crosshatching?

  • And btw, you already knew that, that's how you started your video. So don't go preaching one thing and then go telling something else. I know for example people who are quite happy to draw only witth 0.3,0.5,0.7 mechnical pencils or those who draw excellent with a Mars 780 lead holder or combined with traditional pencil or mechanical pencils. The biggest mistake any teacher can make is to teach with those eye flaps that horses wear.

  • damn thank you so much i have been drawing since i was a kid and i always loved the old school drawings. I never could get it like they did with the broad strokes....but today in head drawing class i done your techniques and even my teacher was impressed so thank you so much...thank god for you tube and you Mr Harerly!

  • Ok I will ask them next time I am in there. Thanks!
