This is part 1 of Story Book Forest at Idlewild Park in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Story Book Forest opened in 1956 and features many favorite characters from children's fairy tales. Video taken on July 3, 2008.

  • ah storeybook forest thought it was a nice park when i was young nicely built place but pa has better things than this there . just isnt exiting as an adult /. it was basically a roadside attraction. kind of dull now but at least its still thee now.

  • LOVE THESE CLIPS - great memories! We went there a few times in the early/mid 1960s. Can't wait to take my two grandsons there in a few years!!

    

  • i was watching this thinking " i dont remember this" and " this actually looks quite good" then i heard the accents and realised it wasnt the scottish version of the park. you have to check out our version in aberdeen, its pish ! lol

  • My grandparents used to take us there in the early/mid 70s. What a wonderful place it was. I've lived in Chicago my entire life but I hope to get back there one day .

  • Thanks for posting this video. There are so few Storybook Forests left these days and I'm glad I got to see one for the first time. There were quite a few of these places in Florida (where I live). Unfortunately, they were all closed by 1974 when Walt Disney World opened in 1972. I was born in Coral Gables, FL in 1974, a farming comuntiy at that time just south of Miami, FL. It's nice to know a little piece of American History is still around
