While we were waiting in total confusion to see why the Kacheguda - Yesvantpur Express was unexpectedly put on the loop line at Rajanakunte(it usually gets preference over lesser trains), a freighter appeared with twin KJM WDG3As in the lead and to our surprise the train was actually TWO goods trains coupled back-to back and hence there were two more WDG3As in the middle! The train was undergoing a trial run to check the feasibility of running extra-long freight trains. A totally unexpected yet a very memorable catch! This is probably the first instance of SWR performing trial runs. The same has happened earlier on WR but this is the first video of the trial here.
BTW this is My 300th upload + completion of a year of videographing trains :P
Location: Rajanakunte.
Camera: Canon PowerShot SX20 IS

  • wow thts rare....i saw this happen once at palasa station...it comes under the E.Co railway jurisdiction....even i was amazed seeing tht... only difference, they were with the WAG 7 Angul locos!!! will this train not be stopped ne whr in between?? even if they re stopped i don think one entire station from the starting to the next signal is enough!!

  • @shreyasnalco These trains get the highest priority, even more than Rajdhanis and Shatabdis, because of their excessive length. They cannot fit into any wayside station so if there's an oncoming Raj, it will be made to wait for this train.

  • Great video. Those sound a lot like the Alco's we had here in the US.

  • @kiatruck Thank you. These run on ALCO 251C-16 engines upgraded to produce 3100hp. :)

  • WAP7D : As of early 2011, this is a proposed loco design by RDSO - based on the WAP7, but with IGBT drives, and some changes to components resulting in a somewhat lower total weight.

  • @daredevil30000 Er..ok.

  • The signal man in the last boogie will hire auto to go to the front engine....

  • @sojoetj IR is trying out extra-long freight trains to maximise efficiency of goods haulage. These trains get preference over every other train simply because they won't fit into loop lines at stations. So even a Shatabdi or Rajdhani Express will have to wait for this train if it encounters a crossing.

  • @agmany Yeah

  • this i s one thing i have never seen.......why??? we have only 27 boogie separation at signals how did they pass
