A "philosopher's stone" is a mythical stone once sought by alchemists for use in the transmutation of base metals into gold - it was also thought to be the elixir of life. So, Harry Potter may or may not have had any influence in the naming of the pedal; rather, the books borrowed the idea of a philosopher's stone from history.

Someday, Someday I will have this pedal. ..

@ponlm I think it's only called the Philosopher's Stone in other parts of the world. In America it's the Sorcerer's Stone.

oh i get it- philosopher's tone = philosopher's stone from harry potter... which makes you live forever... whoever named this pedal was a nerd :D

@ProGuitarShopDemos Hey guys. I've tried to message the sight, and have placed a post here, but I'm wondering if you can tell me if this pedal is capable of true transparency, as it seems to always color the tone with a bit of grit to my ears, but without playing with it myself, it's hard to tell. I think both this and the regular version are fabulous pedals, but if I'm looking for a transparent clean tone, should I go with the regular version?

the song in the beginning is so nice and well known! what is the name of it?
The Gold version was a limited run. Check out the new video demo of the Philosopher's Tone. We push the limits and explore infinite sustain!
