I understand why you'd feel that way, and it makes sense, but there are at least two good reasons why they used the English accent (and in particular, the standard London-middle-class RP): firstly, it's easier to avoid the risk of trying to do a German accent and failing - it would've ruined it completely if they had; secondly, it comes across as funnier when they're playing these two fearsome Nazi officers, and are talking just like two ordinary English guys.

Well, then Americans were baddies as well. They're the only nation to wipe out a quarter of a million civilians with weapons of mass destruction. Brits weren't particularly nice either with all the terror bombings on German cities. How about we just say there are no "goodies" or "baddies" in geopolitics and war?
