Until recently, African Grey parrots were nearly gone in Uganda. Were nearly gone, that is, until 224 Greys -- confiscated from smugglers -- were rehabilitated and re-released in Kibale National Park, in July of 2011. These birds were the among 272 birds confiscated in two shipments by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. All were taken to Uganda Wildlife Education Center for assessment and rehabilitation for release.
This is their story. Learn more about these efforts at: http://www.parrots.org/flyfree
Thank you Uganda Wildlife Authority and Uganda Wildlife Education as well as Fly Free and The World Parrot Trust. You have my support.

Everytime I watch any video about Africa, all I see all people singing and dancing. Maybe that's all the press publishes but thats the impression they give.

It sure is nice to see some sensible people in Africa that are not just singing and dancing! Its great that they are saving these birds. The world should stop the trade in Wild caught parrots there are many african greys in capitivity and they don't need to keep taking the wild ones.

This video just lightens my heart! It is so wonderful to see all of the caring people rehabilitating and returning these beautiful birds to their habitat. By making it a MISSION of the peoples of Africa to protect the African grey in its habitat, it becomes MUCH HARDER for poachers to get by with their nasty deeds. Keep up the GREY'T work!
Blessings,
