**Thanks for the comments, everyone. I totally forgot that Dudley's standing Fierce xx SA3 was DED. I even use that myself....i have no clue why I forgot. This also applies for characters where a regular move is super-cancelable (sp?) only. Such as necro's standing far Strong.

Thanks for mentioning that Makoto's SA2 is an example as well. As you already stated, it's not a good practice because your opponent has to be on your side of the screen and also, your opponent is going to be jumping a lot because he thinks you're going to karakusa

This is a meter-gaining option select which is obviously why I had such a basic video about gaining meter last week (http://youtu.be/JY34_8fD8mE)

When your attack hits your opponent, you gain more meter than if your opponent blocked or parried it. With this in mind, if you are just shy of 1 meter within a certain range, you can perform DED;
-if your attack hits, you will have more than 1 meter and your super will come out
-if your attack is blocked or parried, you will not have meter and the super will not come out
-yes, if your attack is parried, you can be punished. However, the punish will not be thaaat bad because your super won't come out. So it's not like your opponent parried your super.

Next video, my interview with Skisonic!

  • whats the point of an option select for super moves if you can just hit confirm them anyway?

  • @TheStfu1000 DED is used because you have less than 1 meter. a hit confirm is used when you already have 1 or more bars of super. :)

  • @TheStfu1000 yeah that's pretty much it, TheStfu1000; the DED is basically "i dont gotta look at shit, i'm just gonna low MK super anyway!"

  • Hey C-Royd, tosf represent! I use to play at funland with Antoine ages ago when we were in school.

Anyways, what do you think about making a vid about setting up supers? (denjin, genei, and reflectors) I think it'd be a cool topic.

  • @plutoburn Travis, i dont know how you'd think that I would forget who you were.

  • Why does the super not come out on block? Is it because you get less meter on block?

  • @Shimmerman1 yeah you'd almost have to do it by the feel of your fingers and then some subconcious visual processing lol but with the negative edge i think that makes it easier as you're just waiting to release teh pressure from the button rather than apply pressure to it.

  • @TheStfu1000 DED can be used for C.MK XX SUper. Hit confirming C.MK is extremely difficult, it's somewhere in the region of a 1-2 frame read. So unless you can consistently read frames by the second (which 99% of none pro players cant), DED is very useful for confirming C.mk XX super.

  • What arcade stick do you use?

  • What does DED stand for?

  • @RoydRoydRoyd makes sense. guess by nature option selects are easier than hit confirms as they do it for you. though i guess getting the right amount of meter would take time in terms of practice and you'd need to glance at the meter bar more and stuff. i still can't find a proper hit confirm video from you. i've watched the noob hit confirm and the ken hit confirm but no advanced audio/visual cues for single normal to supers....

  • @RoydRoydRoyd but you could still hit confirm with less than 1 meter. so is it just because hit confirming generally is harder to execute than DED option select?

  • @koufdell another one is forward mk(buffer QC) xx super..super safe
