  • ...someone is pulling your chain if you think its 15 years mate. you're lucky at the moment to get 50,000 hours with standard LED - with luxeon etc more 30,000 hours...and the heat that lot is going to whack out locally is going to reduce that dramatically...

  • i just left a comment and is gone!!!

in this video it shows a light panel with 10mm 5 chip leds running at 100ma

i use luxeons in my 300w Purlehaze light

    15years x 365days x 12hours = 65700hours

100,000 hours is 22 years and they will be 50%bright

Luxeon products will deliver, on average, 70% lumen maintenance at 50,000 hours of operation at a 700 mA forward current

or 50% at 100,000 hours maintained at or below 90°C thats hot i run them at 60c max

  • hey, awesome vid. i hope to experiment with LED's for growing someday. i like plants and growing, i also study electronics so this really tickles my fancy. whats the music?

  • yer its fun all my fav things

the music is (Neil Diamond Cherry, Cherry)

im making a 300 watt led array at the moment will be ready soon ill post some more vids

leds are the future they just keep get brighter and use the same amount of power lol

instant on v little heat last for 15 years compare that with 6-12months for hps

  • good luck s) plants like flicker yhea prolly where did you learn that

  • Flickering is terrible for plant photosynthesis. Read about the time it takes for this process to occur. If your light is flickering it is interrupting the process.

  • I don't suppose you would be willing to help me out with some Schematic and parts to build one of these smaller LED's like this one would you? I like to ask people that have done it as there is just so many variables when researching it from those that have never done it. When I learned to build Guitar effects pedals it was the same problem so many failures, and the LED's are expensive so I'd like to limit myself to success as much as I can lol. I just want to make a small one for Veg only.

  • All these stupid comments on lumens ... sure, if we cared what a plant sees then maybe lumens would be important - too bad it's a measurement of relative 'brightness'.

Anyway ... so plants - particularly pot - are ok with the flicker? Wouldn't you want to expose the plants to as much light as possible overall? There's no threat from IR or UV causing plant damage. I read that if you want to increase the final THC yield, a short exposure of UV near the end of the flowering cycle helps.

  • Hi, Im making a lamp now using bi-colour leds that flash from blue to red @ 1hz cycle, The idea is so you dont have to buy 2x the amout of leds and you can fit more leds on your pcb / vero board :)

Anyone think this is a good idea? its just an idea I had and im glad plants dont get epilepsy with all thase plashing leds!!!

  • ull get about 11,000 lumens of a 300 watt led

  • leaking hahaha

  • This technique has been proven on hightimes website to cause a higher male count from light stress.

The idea here is to simulate nature, not bring back fuckin disco, idiots.

  • lexus is making car headlights that are brighter and more efficient than any hid. the technology is barely coming around. i wouldnt use led till that lexus tech is avail...
