HBCU World is a not-for-profit project aimed at increasing the accessibility of HBCUs for minority and at-risk students. Through the creation of an online, 3d virtual campus, HBCU World will provide a new and unique way for economically-challenged youth to access information about Historically Black Colleges and Universities, including student finanical aid information, admission requirements, & campus lifestyles. Students will be able to attend virtual campus tours, as well as participate in seminars, distance education and continuing education courses to help prepare themselves for a higher education.
HBCU World will be competing in the Pepsi Refresh challenge in June, in an attempt to acquire initial funding for the project. Please support our project by going to http://pep.si/hbcu to vote for our project each day in June, and help us put an end to the high drop-out rates amongst financially disadvantaged youth, and ensure they have access to a quality post-secondary education.
